Summer holidays with the Danish Vikings
Even in economically challenging times, many people aren’t letting their vacation be spoiled. Many people have once again planned to vacation abroad for the upcoming summer holidays. Those who like it hot and sunny and aren’t afraid of sunburn are naturally drawn to the south, to Spain, Italy, or another Mediterranean country. However, some expect more from a vacation than just basking in the sun and lazing around all day. While being close to the beach is important, so too are the local cultural offerings.
Anyone who wants to learn more about Danish and Viking history, or simply enjoys a wonderful holiday on the North Sea or Baltic Sea, is in the perfect place. Finding holiday homes in Denmark isn’t particularly difficult, thanks to the vast selection. Whether you rent a holiday home in the brewery town of Faxe, a vacation apartment in Vrist, or a hotel room in Copenhagen is entirely up to you. There’s so much to experience in all parts of Denmark.
Even in the more rural regions of Denmark, there are other cultural offerings besides the coastline, where you can swim, sunbathe, enjoy water sports, or fish. Many museums offer insights into Denmark’s past. One museum transports visitors to the world of the Vikings, another open-air museum shows visitors life in the Stone Age, and yet others focus on seafaring, nature, and much more.
And children can have fun there, too. Many facilities and amusement parks throughout Denmark are sure to please children, like the large Danish toy manufacturer, which built an entire park entirely out of toy blocks. Even the Vikings knew how to have fun after a long journey, and their descendants, the Danes, haven’t forgotten how to do it to this day. A summer vacation in Denmark is more than just worth recommending. You should experience Denmark at least once.
With Estrella Damm to Mallorca
“Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, I wanna be with you tomorrow!” is how a song from the Estrella Damm advertisement starts. In the background, you can see the beautiful Balearic Islands and immediately long for a vacation, to relax and to drink a cocktail under a palm tree. But these are precisely the clichés that the Spanish beer brand is playing with. It plays on the longing for the South and positions its drink here. Obviously, it is an advertisement and exaggerates massively, but in this case, the whole thing has a very true core. Mallorca or the other Balearic Islands are by no means limited to “Viva la vida” or the rich and beautiful with their luxury properties in Mallorca. In principle, everyone should be able to experience the beauty of the islands with all of their senses.
It doesn’t always have to be in summer.
These promotional videos may be set in the height of summer, when the sky is blue, not a cloud is in sight, and the sea is wonderfully warm. However, the warm season here in the Mediterranean starts in May. So who says it has to be only the summer months? The offers from various travel agencies, and especially booking yourself, are considerably cheaper. If you’re lucky, you can even get a week for half the summer price. Another advantage is the almost deserted beaches that await you at this time of year. But you can’t be a delicate person and should be able to cope with water temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius. Diving also has decisive advantages in late spring: the diversity of fish and marine animals is much greater, and you can spot an exciting array of bright colors and shapes in the water.
From Menorca to Mallorca
How about a tour of the Balearic Islands? Seeing just one island would be a shame, so if you have more than a week, you can fit in much more of your itinerary. You can reach one of the islands by boat. Only the smallest island, Formentera, is difficult to reach. You’d have to go to Ibiza first before continuing, but exclusivity isn’t within everyone’s reach, and the price reflects that.
